It's been an unusual day at work today. We've have quite a bit of snow lately and the melting snow started to leak through the roof. A coworker, Kevin, goes to shovel the snow off the roof and manages to fall off the ladder. He's alright, fortunatly. With Kevin down, it's now up to me to shovel the roof. So here I am shovelling snow off a roof just days after getting a warning about not having my sidewalk shoveled. But wait! There's more.
Now that the snow has been taken care of, it's time to find the leak. We turn to Mike, probably the smallest employee at Amigo.Net, to crawl in to the space between the ceiling and the roof to hunt down the leak.
Mike climbs into the crawl space and wait below to help guide him to the leak. After about 15 minutes, we still haven't heard from him. So James and I wander over to the crawl space entrace and start to call to him. No answer. I'm now remembering all those horror movies where one guy goes to check out something and, one by one, everyone else follows only to be eaten by the monster. Well, there was no monster, Mike just got stuck once or twice and the insulation up there was muffling out calls.
So, Mike finds his way to the area of the leak and we finally here from him, "Where am I!?" After much shouting we get him closer to the leak and James starts banging on the ceiling with a broom, just like an old lady in an apartment trying to get the people upstairs to quiet down.
With the leak found Mike marks the way to it with chalk and, being the high tech company we are, he takes his digital camera and takes pics of the way to the leak to guide Ken (the owner) to it so that he can fix it. Many laughs were had by all over the whole situation. It was, after all, a most unusual day.
